Adarian Barr is the Director and CEO of Next Level Athletics and Fitness. He has been involved in athletics and track and field since the age of 9 when he began competing as a sprinter. He is deeply passionate about athletics and feels strongly about aiding in the positive advancement of all sports.

Adarian is one the most forward thinking and innovative track coaches in the Sacramento region and northern California if not in the country. What makes Adarian one of the best track and field technical coaches in  California? Results, proven results year after year and in a short period of time. It is not uncommon to see athletes improve by feet instead of just inches and by seconds instead of just tenths in sprinting and jumping.

Cheetah Sprint Start, Asymmetrical Sprinting, Power Position Sled

Adarian was Californias High School Boys Triple Jump State Champion. After high school he attended the University of Colorado, Boulder and California State University, Chico where he still holds school records. After college he went on to coach at the collegiate level. He coached both Cross Country and Track and Field at Division 1 through Division 3 schools including Indiana State University. He has been coaching for over 17 years producing numerous Collegiate Track and Field Conference Champions, All-Americans, All Conference and School record holders.

Adarian has a Masters Degree in Physical Education; is a USATF Level I Lead Instructor; a USATF Level II Certified Coach in sprints, jumps, hurdles and relays; and a NESTA Speed Agility Quickness Trainer.

Adarian still competes and is a ranked and champion master athlete. In 2006 he was the number 1 ranked USA Masters Track and Field long and triple jumper in the 40-44 age group. In 2007 he was the number 1 and 2 ranked USA Masters Track and Field triple and long jumper in the 40-44 age group.

Next Level Athletics and Fitness is Adarians next great accomplishment. It started in 1999 with the creation of the Combo Lift. The Combo Lift came about because there was a need for a lift that would work multi-joints; that could be used to build speed, power and strength for his track athletes at Bethany College. Next Level Athletics and Fitness has allowed Adarian to continue his passion for knowledge of athletics and to share this knowledge with anyone with an open mind and an equal passion for pushing human performances.

Newsflash

Asymmetrical sports and fitness training

The human being is an asymmetrical being, the right side is not the same as the left side, one side may be bigger or longer than the other side, and they have different functions during movement. The asymmetrical function of humans is paired teams working together for greater efficiency.

We spend most of time in training trying to make the one side identical in size shape function as the other side in the name of balance.

Asymmetrical training is not about balance but about making each side better to improve the working efficiency of the  paired team.

Most of the asymmetrical training involves the theory of a weaker side and a dominant side with the goal of making each side equal in strength and use. The test to determine the dominate side is strength related, which side can lift more or which side is bigger.

Asymmetrical training should be based on neuromuscular function as it has been determined that the brain has a different neuro pattern for the right and left side to achieve the same performance.
